Moonlight and Magnolias
Attending writing workshops can really re-energize me when it comes to my own writing. I learn new techniques, ways to structure my stories in a more cohesive manner, and get up to date with new technology. Such was the case this past weekend when I attended the Moonlight and Magnolias Conference presented in Atlanta, GA.
I enjoyed a leisurely train ride to and from the conference (okay, the ride was very nice but I STILL am chilled to the bone from the air conditioning in the train cars). Wonder if they were carrying refrigerated products in there with us….it was definitely cold enough!
The conference was well run and all the ladies and gentlemen in attendance were incredibly nice as were those in charge of the actual event.
It was also my first time to attend the presentation of awards for work submitted for judging in both published and unpublished romance categories. The Maggies are held in high esteem in the romance genre and I must say all the winning entries as well as those who made the finals sound like great books I’d love to read! It also made me aspire to perhaps submit my work to see how it would fair in the Maggie competition.
To all my new writer friends who took this newbie in and made me feel at home I say thank you. By the end of the even I felt right at home…and will likely be attending again next year.
Time for me to get those partial submissions polished (did I fail to mention my pitches went over pretty well too?)!
